Scarlett Launches Girl Group
SCARLETT JOHANSSON - a woman of many talents - is stretching her musical muscle and forming her very own girl band. The Singles, as it will be known, is a five-piece group and what better part for a leading actress to take up than lead singer.
"The idea was to write super pop dance music written and performed by girls," the actress told the Daily Express, citing influences such as Grimes, The Bangles and The Go-Gos. "I wanted it to be like those bands - ultra pop, but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."
It may come as news to some that this isn't Johansson's first attempt at chart success. The actress and new mother of one already has two solo albums to her name - Anywhere I Lay My Head, from 2008, and Break Up, from 2009. Sadly neither made a lasting impression on the tough-to-break music industry. She is no doubt hoping that The Single's first track, Candy - which was released this weekend - is more of a winner. Listen to it here.
